UPDATE ON AUROMIRA CENTRE REFURBISHMENT May 2026
Dear All
Thank you all for your patience while the refurbishment works have been taking place and heartfelt gratitude to so many of you who have very kindly offered funds to help with the project.
We are pleased to say that phase 1 (with elements of phase 2 and 3) works are almost complete. We await carpet fitting and a final clean up before the centre can re-open. We anticipate this to be within the next 2 weeks.
We intend to organise an open meeting at the Centre sometime in June to discuss the functions of the newly furbished rooms and for a reappraisal of the Centre’s activities.
What has been completed:
1. Refurbishment of Maheswari room (old meditation room)
2. Creation of Mahasaraswati room (old kitchen and dining room) with an interconnecting door to
Maheshwari room.
3. Refurbishment of the front passageway, staircases and the landings
4. Refurbishment of three rooms upstairs on the 126 side
5. Refurbishment of cloakrooms in both properties
6. Creation of a new boiler room with new heating system and pipework on the 124 side
7. New circuit boards throughout both properties and new lighting with full check on all electrics
8. Refurbishment of the small kitchen on the 124 side which will become the functioning
kitchenette and utility area for the entire centre.
9. Refurbishment of the corridor leading to the garden
10. Refurbishment of the Shrine
11. Refurbishment of the ceilings outside the Shrine and New Creation room and the passageway
between the two.
12. Creation of more storage cupboards for the Centre’s equipment
Many of these completed works were itemised in phase 1 but in order to facilitate these works, it was necessary to include some elements of phase 2 and 3 works. This will mean less refurbishment work will remain at the Centre in the future.
The signature theme of the Centre is white walls and golden carpet (like in the Shrine).
We shall aim to keep any further decorations and ornamentation simple, because ‘Spirituality is
Supreme Simplicity’ as stated by The Mother.
The total cost so far (including most of the carpeting) has been £85,450
We received £15,942 from the insurance company (water damage) and we have received £55,033
in offerings towards the refurbishment. Hence our shortfall is £14,475.
We have had to use some of the legacy funding (left behind by Vijen and Pratibha Manek) to cover
this shortfall.
The Trustees welcome further offerings which will help to cover the deficit for this project and will
also make it possible to undertake phases 2 and 3 in the future and help towards the general
maintenance and running of the Centre. These can include regular standing orders in the way
many of you already very kindly offer to the Centre.
